Third Virtual Studio Manager System for Global Television
L-S-B Broadcast Technologies has supplied a VSM broadcast control system to Global Television in Australia for their new HD4 OB truck. The system was commissioned by VSM Control GmbH and supported through the company’s Sydney based partner Professional Audio Technology.
For the third time, Global Television has turned to a Virtual Studio Manager (VSM) system to provide control for the entire audio, tally, vision and communication systems of the latest addition to their fleet of OB trucks. Equipment under the central control of VSM includes a LAWO Nova 73 audio router, Evertz EQX video router, VIPX Multiviewers, Sony Switcher, Marshall monitors, Evertz and Ross modular equipment. The system comprises of fully redundant VSM servers and an array of vsmGear, including LBP-17 and LBP-34 hardware control panels and a number of LBP-33e panels, each including 33 fully configurable LCD buttons and an incremental encoder for parameter control. VSM CommServers and GPIO panels were integrated.
Having enjoyed the benefits of the control system in their other projects, Global Television made the decision to continue integrating VSM into their production facilities. “Global Television has continued with the proven integration between VSM and the host of our favoured equipment used in our brand new HD Outside Broadcast trailer - HD4. We find the flexibility of the VSM system allows us to easily configure and control the majority of equipment within our HD OB units, as a result we are able to quickly and reliably turn our trucks around between projects,” commented Global’s Technical Service Manager, Milan Milenkovic.
