Virtual Studio Manager Operates 3D in Scandinavia
The first 3D-ready outside-broadcast truck in Scandinavia is rolling through Norway and produced the first-ever live national 3D transmission: all under the control of VSM.

OB-Team, one of Scandinavia’s largest producers of outside broadcast services, has successfully premiered the first live 3D broadcast in Norway with the help of an L-S-B Virtual Studio Manager (VSM). The full stereoscopic 3D production of the Euro qualifying football match between Norway and Cyprus on Oct. 15 was produced by the HD 3, the latest addition to the OB-Team fleet, featuring 14 VSM hardware panels and a complete vsmStudio control system.
The special features offered by the conformable VSM system, such as gadget control to sync parameters or virtual signals to combine cameras and destinations, seamlessly bring together the solutions to 3D production challenges. “As every production has different needs, it is great to have the flexibility and configurability the VSM system gives us in the truck,” said Espen K. Frøysa, Technical Systems Manager at OB-Team AS.
The HD 3, introduced to the public at the IBC 2011 in Amsterdam, also produces the weekly Norwegian Premier League football match, horse races from Bergen and is scheduled for the Norwegian version of the entertainment format production “the Voice” later this year.
